Name the Gnome Contest @ the Angus Branch
Our reading gnome needs a name! You can help us by suggesting names for the little guy... From February 1-29, enter your gnome's name at the ballot box at the Angus Branch.

R.B.C. After School Program EPL's After School Program in the Angus Branch is underway. For children, Grades 3-6, this free program will include nutrition, homework assistance, computer learning and activities that continue to develop upon the Ontario Curriculum. Participants will be able to enjoy social games, activities and a supportive learning environment at the New Angus Branch! NEW!! Reduced Printing, Photocopying & Fax Prices!!!
The Library Board recently approved reducing the fees for computer printing, photocopying and fax services.
New fees are: .10 per letter size, black ink (applies to both computer prints & photocopies)
$1.50 for outgoing fax (1st. page); $1.00 for subsequent pages; .50 for incoming faxes.
Color computer printouts remain the same price. For a detailed computer printout/photocopying price list, please check in-branch or ask Library Staff.
Building the Library One Book at a Time
Visit Naturally For You, 65 King Street in Angus for some great used book titles in their "Book Nook" sales area. The book sale features gently used fiction, non-fiction and children's book titles. All proceeds raised will go to the Essa Public Library, New Angus Branch.
Storytime Sessions underway! Storytime for the young pre-schooler is offered at both branches. Storytime at the new Angus Branch runs every Wednesday in February 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 Our next Thornton Branch Storytime Session starts in February on Monday, February 27 ; and on Tuesday, February 21, 28 Storytime is offered FREE to children, ages 2-5 years For more information, please contact Library staff at: 705-424-6531 (Angus) 705-458-2549 (Thornton)
Bedtime Tales More Storytime Fun is offered at our "Bedtime Tales", featuring stories, songs, finger play & fun for ages up to 6 years old! Bedtime Tales will now be held on Monday evenings, 6:30 - 7:00 p.m. at the Angus Branch! No registration is required--just come along for the FREE fun! Ontario Early Years Preschooler Program A joint partnership with EPL and the Ontario Early Years brings a wonderful opportunity for preschoolers to learn, socialize and most of all, have fun at the Library! Show your support for the Library! Support the Essa Public Library Branches in Angus & Thornton...We have new canvas bookbags with our new Library logo and featuring the slogan/graphic, "It takes a library to raise a community" for only $10.00 each. Monies raised from the sales of products will be directed to the Branch in which they are sold. At the Angus Branch, fundraising will go towards the newAngus Branch facility. In the Thornton Branch, fundraising money will be for facility enhancement. For more details, ask Library Staff at either Branch.
Good Food Box at the Angus Branch! The Simcoe County Good Food Box program operated by community organizations and volunteers is back! Anyone who enjoys high quality fruits and vegetables can purchase a small box @ $10.00 or a large box @ $15.00. Cash payment must be received at time of placing your order and must be received no later than the 5th. day of each month. You can place your order at the Angus Branch of the Essa Public Library. All orders must be picked up on the 3rd. Thursday of each month and participants are advised to please bring their own bags or boxes to pick up your Good Food Box contents. The content of the boxes varies by what is in season and reasonably priced. Please note that orders not picked up, by 5 p.m. on pick-up day, are donated to people in need in the community. 2012 Dog Tags now on sale! 2012 Township of Essa dog tags are sale now at both Library Branches in Angus & Thornton. NOTE: Library branches sell one-year tags only, at a cost of $20.00. 2012 tags will expire December 31, 2011. Two-year tags are only available through the Township of Essa. Please contact 705-424-9770 for more information on licensing your dog for two years. YOU MUST BRING PROOF OF VALID RABIES VACCINATION FOR YOUR DOG BEFORE WE CAN ISSUE A 2012 TAG!
County of Simcoe Garbage Bag Tags - Price going up in 2012! Both Library branches in Angus & Thornton also sell the County of Simcoe's garbage bag tag sheets. Note: the yellow tags expire in April 2012. Prices for the new 2012 green tags, sold as a sheet of five, is $15.00. With the organic waste program now in effect, Township of Essa residents are allowed one garbage bag per pickup, so we are pleased to be an outlet for you to purchase tags, should you need them.
Help the Homebound If you would like to be a volunteer of the Library, we have opportunities for you to deliver and pickup library materials to homebound patrons. Also, if you are homebound and would like to have home delivery, please contact us at 705-424-6531 (Angus Branch) or 705-458-2549 (Thornton Branch)-Shaun Fox will be happy to discuss your needs and coordinate your homebound service.
